To kick off our first #whyphiwednesday, we want to spotlight our freshman Elyana Blatt 💋

“Growing up with a sister and spending most of my life as a competitive dancer, I was always surrounded by girls who pushed, supported, and inspired me. Coming to Michigan, I knew I wanted that same energy, so going through recruitment felt like a no-brainer.

I went into rush not knowing much about Alpha Phi, but every round made it clearer that Phi was different. Walking into the house quickly shifted from intimidating to exciting, effortless, and honestly just right. Every sister I met made the experience feel natural and fun, and by the final round, there was no question where I belonged, I left knowing I had found my place.

Being a Michigan Alpha Phi has already been unreal. From the girls to the energy to the memories we’re already making, Phi is everything I hoped for and more, and I couldn’t be more excited or sure that Alpha Phi was the right choice ♥️♥️”

“A few years ago, I was diagnosed with an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), as well as tears within several of my heart valves. As a result, I had to undergo major open heart surgery. Alpha Phi reminds me that I’m not defined by my cardiac condition and surgery, but by the resilience and purpose that came from it. There is never a dull moment between us, and we cherish every second spent together. Meeting through Alpha Phi has made our college journey that much more meaningful and unforgettable.

“As I look back at my experience in Phi as a senior, I can’t help but be so grateful for all phi has given me.

I went into freshman year not expecting to rush, and ended up deciding very last minute to, not knowing what to expect at all. But from the very beginning, I loved every moment of it and met the most incredible, diverse group of girls through Alpha Phi. By the time I reached pref, I knew there was nowhere else I wanted to be.

My experience in Phi has genuinely changed my life for the better. My favorite part has been finding my best friends and sisters for life. Being so far away from my home and family in Thailand, these girls have truly become my family too. From living in the house with @julesalfieri and @sydtremayne, to 611 with @vicky.vanwoerkom and @miafdcc, and now the best senior house ever (841!! 🌟) with @marinrae_ and @simone__forte, every stage has been unforgettable. Living with six of my best friends truly feels like one big slumber party every day. And aside from 841, I’m the luckiest girl ever to have @charlireda as my little 🥹🥹 my best friend, life companion, everything in one, I don’t know what I would ever do without her. I am endlessly grateful to Alpha Phi for bringing me friendships that will last a lifetime.”

Happy Sunday Senior Spotlight from Alpha Phi’s past President, Lily Trudeau 💛💛

“As I get ready for my next chapter in NYC, I can’t help but reflect on how much Alpha Phi has given me. From my very first day of recruitment to now, Phi has gifted me the most valuable friendships and opportunities.

Serving as President during my sophomore and junior year, was a foundational experience in my time at Michigan. Leading this chapter, surrounded by genuine, driven, and kind women, allowed me to be challenged in new ways and helped me discover the confidence and strength I’ll carry into life beyond Michigan.

I feel so lucky to have spent these past four years surrounded by my best friends and family, whether that be crammed in the TV room of 1830 Hill Street or a few steps away from each other in our senior houses. Although next year we will all be just a little bit further apart, I already can’t wait for sleepovers, trips, and even reunions with our already graduated bigs and grandbigs. Alpha Phi will always be home no matter where we are.”

“Still in pure awe of this weekend!! We hosted our annual Red Dress Gala and raised $36,000 for Women’s Heart Health. Since 1946, the Alpha Phi Foundation has been dedicated to advancing women’s heart health and funding groundbreaking research that saves lives. Serving as the Director of Philanthropy has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. I feel so grateful to have a hand in raising money for a cause that impacts so many women across the world. I am endlessly grateful to be part of a chapter like Alpha Phi that carries this philanthropy so close to its heart and pours so much love and support into every event!!! ❤️❤️”

“Growing up between Singapore and Italy, moving to Michigan was one of the biggest jumps I’ve ever made, and at first, it felt like I was doing it alone. That changed the day I met Mariana during a math tutoring session. As a fellow international student, she quickly became one of my closest friends and the person I can’t imagine life in Michigan without. We weren’t sure if Greek life was for us, but we took a chance and I’m so grateful we did. From hanging out every day in AA to meeting up in Paris and Italy this summer, Alpha Phi has brought us closer together & given us the best memories.

We are so lucky that our PC is so close and even though we are graduating, we cannot wait for what’s to come for all of us and know we will always be connected. Our senior houses are so special to us and we are so grateful that Phi brought us all together”

None of it would be possible without the ongoing support of my amazing Alpha Phi sisters. They supported me whole heartedly during this busy year and I would not be where I am today without them. Specifically my 837 girls - I love you guys so much!!”

“Growing up as the older sister to triplet brothers, I always wondered what it would be like to have a sister. Coming to Michigan, I was so excited for all the new possibilities, but I also wanted to find a home amidst the chaos of adjusting to college life—a place where I could feel supported, loved, and truly myself.
During rush, I was always so excited to come back to 1830—from standing in line and bracing the cold with my future sisters to laughing and bonding with the older girls, I knew I had found something special. And now, having been a member for a few months, a home is exactly what I’ve found.

Every moment of sisterhood spent with these girls has completely shifted my college experience. The support, love, and true friendship I’ve found here mean everything to me, and I’m eternally grateful to Alpha Phi for bringing me my big, @brookie_shaw, who is truly an inspiration to me and has taught me the meaning of sisterhood.

And while nothing can replace my three brothers back home, I can safely say I’ve found hundreds of sisters and lifelong friends thanks to Alpha Phi❤️❤️!”
